ATS that posts to multiple job boards: how it works

How multiposting works: write a vacancy once, publish it to many job boards, and get every applicant back in one deduplicated pipeline. Free vs paid boards.

An ATS with multiposting publishes one job to many boards at once: you write the vacancy once, the system maps it to each board’s format, pushes it out through integrations or feeds, and routes every applicant back into a single pipeline, deduplicated. That replaces re-typing the same ad into five or ten separate board dashboards.

How does multiposting from an ATS work?

  1. You create the vacancy once inside the ATS: title, description, location, salary, employment type.
  2. You pick target boards from the integrated catalog: general boards, aggregators, niche and regional boards.
  3. The system maps your fields to each board’s format and validates per-board rules, such as character limits or required salary fields.
  4. The posting goes out through direct integrations or structured feeds, and status, errors, and expiry dates report back into the ATS.
  5. Every application returns to the same pipeline with its source tagged, so boards get compared on actual outcomes rather than on impressions.

The boring magic sits in steps three and five. Field mapping kills the re-typing, and source tracking turns “we post everywhere” into “we know exactly which boards earn their place.”

Free job boards vs paid job boards: what is the difference?

Free and organic listings Paid and sponsored listings
How jobs appear Picked up via feeds or free submission Guaranteed placement bought per post, slot, or click
Visibility Ranked by relevance, decays over time Boosted while the budget lasts
Best for Common roles, steady volume, regional reach Urgent, senior, or competitive searches
Cost No media spend Set and billed by the board itself

A sane default: post broadly on free and organic channels through your ATS, watch where qualified applicants actually come from, and spend sponsored budget only where a role is urgent or the organic pipeline runs thin.

What happens when the same candidate applies on two boards?

Good multiposting creates this problem on purpose: the wider the net, the more often one person arrives twice. The ATS deduplicates on identifiers such as email address and phone number, merging or linking the second application onto the existing record while preserving both sources for reporting. Without that, you get two recruiters calling the same candidate, inflated funnel numbers, and awkward “you again?” moments. Dedup quality is worth testing during a trial: apply to your own job twice and watch what happens.

Does posting to more boards get you better candidates?

More boards reliably gets you more applicants. Whether it gets you better ones depends on the role. Broad coverage wins for high-volume and generalist hiring, where reach is the bottleneck. For specialist roles, two niche boards can outperform fifty general ones, and the extra noise from broad posting costs real screening time, which is where candidate scoring starts paying for itself. Source analytics close the loop: after a quarter you know which boards to keep and which to quietly drop.

One more thing scales with your reach: compliance. The same ad copy lands in every market you post into, so a missing salary range is replicated a hundred times in one click. The EU pay transparency directive makes checking before posting rather more urgent than checking after.

What should you test before you buy?

  1. Post a real vacancy and count the manual steps after the click. If you still log into boards to fix formatting, the integration is a brochure, not a feature.
  2. Apply to your own job from two different boards with the same email address and watch whether the records merge.
  3. Check that source reporting survives the funnel: you want interview-stage and offer-stage numbers per board, not just application counts.
  4. Edit the live job, a salary correction for instance, and confirm the change propagates to every board instead of requiring ten manual updates.

What does multiposting cost?

Pricing varies across the market: some vendors meter postings or charge per connected board, and sponsored placement is always billed by the board itself, whatever software you use. Recruitifly keeps it simple: every plan includes unlimited jobs, and a vacancy publishes to hundreds of boards in one click, with applicants flowing back deduplicated and source-tagged. Plans start at EUR 70 per month for a single seat; the full tiers are on the pricing page, and the posting workflow is part of the core features.

Frequently asked questions

What is multiposting in recruitment?

Multiposting is publishing one vacancy to multiple job boards from a single system. The ATS stores the job once, converts it to each board's required format, and submits it through integrations or feeds. Applications from every board flow back into one pipeline, so recruiters track all candidates in a single place.

Are free job boards worth using?

Often, yes. Free and organic listings on aggregators and niche boards can deliver solid volume at zero media cost, especially for common roles. Paid placement earns its keep when a role is urgent, senior, or competitive and you need guaranteed visibility. Multiposting makes it cheap to run both and compare results per source.

How does an ATS handle duplicate applicants from different boards?

The ATS matches incoming applications on identifiers such as email address or phone number. When the same person applies through two boards, the system merges or links the applications into one candidate record, keeps both sources for reporting, and prevents two recruiters from unknowingly working the same candidate.

How many job boards does Recruitifly post to?

Recruitifly publishes a vacancy to hundreds of boards with one click, and every plan includes unlimited job slots, so you never ration postings between vacancies. Applicants from all boards arrive in the same pipeline, deduplicated, with the original source recorded so you can compare board performance.
